Several special events will be held during the weekend. Returning are the Push Pole Canoe Races and the Horseshoe competitions. Newly added this year are the Golf Shot, Art Competition and Photo Competition. Athletic events will be held Sunday morning and the Art Contest will be running throughout the weekend.
Push Pole Canoe Race - Held at the beach, each two person team will use a push pole to propel their canoe to the opposite side of the lake and back. One person poles to one side and then switches with their partner to pole back. Prizes - $100 to the first place team, $50 to the second place team.
Horseshoe Competition - Played just to the north side of the RV lot along the tree line. two person teams. Prizes - $100 to first, $50 to second.
Golf Shot Competition - New this year and will run from 9am to 11am. Shoot as many times as you want for $5 per shot with a winner takes all prize. Closest to the hole wins.
Art Competition - New this year, the art competition will be held in the Rec Building. Put your traditional art on display for a public vote. Beadwork, weaving, painting, etc will be welcome. Voting ballots will be available at the registration booth. There will be a $20 entry fee with the winner taking home $100 plus 50% of the entry fees with the other 50% going to help support the pow wow. Voting will be open from 12pm Saturday till 3pm Sunday.
Photo Competition - Also new this year is the photo competition. These will be displayed in the Rec Building. There will be a $20 entry fee with the winner taking home $100 plus 50% of the entry fees with the other 50% going to help support the pow wow. Winner will be chosen by a public vote. Voting ballots will be available at the registration booth. Photo entries must be framed and a minimum of 8x10. Photos must be of an appropriate subject. Voting will be open from 12pm Saturday till 3pm Sunday.
Winners of the Art and Photo Competitions will be announced at 4pm Sunday. If you wish to mail in or drop off your art or photo competition submission early you may do so. Entry fees are due at time of submission. Submissions are due by 12pm on Saturday July 9th. Must be present to win.
